It’s taken me a while to say this out loud, as it were, so bear with me if I fumble. Postman Pat has been around for *ahem* thirty years. THIRTY YEARS! I genuinely had no idea. Since I remember the birth of Mr Clifton (random general knowledge question thrown in there for you) on our screens that’s not strictly true. But then I kind of thought that 1995 was five years ago. Imagine how utterly appalled I was to realise that’s not true.
So, once I had made an appointment with my therapist and googled the actual amount of time that’s elapsed since 1995, I considered how I had come to have two small children and a Postman Pat 30th Anniversary Edition DVD. As you would expect from an absurdly pink household, there was nothing I could do to persuade or indeed bribe LBG and Dimples to watch said DVD for me when the other alternatives involved a) puppies and b) princesses, so it was left to LBG’s Future Intended to step up to the plate and give his consdered opinion on his second favourite TV star.
Being a boy, he didn’t mince his words: he liked the episodes that involved the trains. And he likes Postman Pat. Postman Pat is his second best thing. He might want to be a Postman when he grows up, and drive a van. He might have a cat. But he might not. And he doesn’t like the music: music is for girls.
So there you have it.
The “Happy Birthday Pat’” DVD (Universal) features more than 3+ hours of adventures plus a free CD with 15 music tracks to sing-a-long with, and is available from all good retailers.
Disclosure: we received a free copy of the DVD for review. I may have paraphrased the words of the three-year-old Future Intended.
Go on! You know you want to tell me what you think!
