I have just over two weeks to go. TWO WEEKS!!!! But I’m feeling positive enough to wear my official t-shirt out and about whilst I’m training, which I never imagined would happen when it arrived 10 weeks ago. I’m also nearly half-way towards raising the money required. If you are feeling generous then the link is over there on the right, or CLICK HERE TO DONATE.
I’ve made it to the eight mile mark this week, and although I’m about to disappear on holiday for a week, I’ll be packing my walking shoes in hopes that I will at least get a couple of good walks in. There’s no doubt that it hurts, but it’s no longer the kind of pain that stops me from moving. It’s no longer the kind of pain that makes me wince with every step. It’s no longer the kind of pain that screams for drugs as soon as I get in the door. It’s almost as though I’ve become a new woman. I never would have believed that if you told me in the days after Dimples’ arrival that I would be in good stead to walk a half marathon at any point in the future.
I’ve not given any thought to what I should wear yet. I was speaking to a friend, Lady S today, who has been so inspired by me (I know, I didn’t believe it either) that she will be walking the half-marathon too, and she sent me into a flat spin after she admitted she had purchased thermals.
“It’s a walk at night. In October.” She said. She has a good point.
So today, I purchased my body weight in glowsticks. They should help me be seen on the roads. The packet doesn’t really say if they let off any heat though.
Go on! You know you want to tell me what you think!
