I’m so excited! I have written my personal statement for my first ever fundraising page:
In less than 12 weeks, I, Kelly Innes, undoubtedly the least fit person that you know (by which I mean unhealthy, not unattractive, just so that we are clear) will be walking a half-marathon for charity. Oh yes, 13.1 miles through London town in the middle of the night (added bonus: no-one will see my super-attractive face look a little sweaty.)
Since the last time I was moved to do any kind of sponsored event was back in school, and thus before the existence of the interweb, I would be very appreciative if you could ‘virtually’ reach down the back of your sofa and find a few pence to sponsor me for doing so.
SHINE 2011 is organised by Cancer Research UK. I am walking in the memory of my Gran, who died at Christmas and to mark a turning point in my life, since I have spent the 18 months since Annabel’s birth working very hard to get over being house-and wheelchair bound in the latter stages of pregnancy.
For more information on the event (in case you feel like bearing witness to my public humiliation: I’ll probably be the only one not wearing anything resembling a costume) please visit: http://shine.cancerresearchuk.org/ or follow my training on my blog: https://domesticgoddesque.com/
Since I last mentioned I was taking part in the Shine event on October 1st, I have started my fundraising. Just take a look at the little box over there in my sidebar —->
See it?
Yep, that’s the one: fancy seeing your message there?
All you have to do is visit my Justgiving page and donate whatever you can afford. Every little helps in the fight against Cancer.
It’s all getting a bit close, so the training has upped a gear. I’m now doing a six-mile walk every week. Again, I appreciate that, to those of you with any reasonable level of fitness, this is, frankly, laughable. But when I have to take strong painkillers for two days after any such walk, I hope you’ll appreciate that it’s still a big deal. The plan is to up the distances I am walking over the next few weeks so that, by the end of September, I should be ready to take on all 13.1 miles of my challenge. It occurs to me, having read some other blogs about their training, that I should be considering an outfit of some kind, so I’d like your suggestions please.
Go on! You know you want to tell me what you think!
