Inspired by….June

June has been an odd month, primarily because I sent two weeks of it tucked away in a sunny corner of Mallorca without adequate internet access, but that didn’t mean we didn’t get things done. To keep the girls busy en route, I took a leaf from Activity Mom’s book and printed out some fabulous Mr Potato Heads. It won’t shock you to learn that the actual potato head was quickly forgotten in favour of making a Mr-Bunny-Head, Mr-Fridge-Head, Mr-Beach-Ball-Head and Mr-Mamma-Head. Oh yes, you can stick the potato-head features to just about anything to create funny faces.

Before we headed for foreign shores, PD had a playdate with friends we don’t see that often. Given that they are both boys and we are the House of Girl, I found a these great Salt Maps, a suitably masculine craft for them all to enjoy.  We also had great fun making Katy’s Easy Peasy Pizzas: PD has developed a fascination with cooking, and I Can Cook is one of her absolute favourite programmes.

Finally, PD has been ‘studying’ Mini-Beasts* in Kindergarten lately, so to keep up with her class whilst we were away, we spent an afternoon crafting mini-beasts from a basic scone mix. Even Daddy got involved, making a very sinister looking spider and an inspired (in my opinion) moth: they all got a bit more macabre when smothered in strawberry jam and consumed as afternoon tea. A slightly less macabre activity were the very simple cupcake case butterflies we made, which will be featured shortly on the blog.

Meanwhile, I have been working on my organisation skills. Once upon a time I was freakishly organised, then my brain cells were attacked by a virus called Childbearing and have subsequently failed to thrive. I’m told years of rehabilitation could bring them back but in the mean time, I am reduced to writing everything down. With a few printouts from The Project Girl and Money Saving Mom, and a laminato,r I feel back in control. Likewise, I’m using the great tips from Jam Hands to streamline my link-ups!

Have you been inspired this month?

*I had to explain to Granny that Bugs have merely been rebranded as Mini-Beasts to make them more exciting ;D
