I don’t have that many pictures of my mum when we were growing up for the simple reason that she was always the one behind the camera.
It doesn’t matter that she’s not always in the shot though, because she’s always a part of the memory of that moment.
That’s something I always carry with me: the knowledge that my Mum is always there, whether you can see her or not.
One of the books I most enjoy reading to The Girls is by Nancy Tillman
It’s a mother telling her child that no matter what they do or where they go, “my love will find you”.
That’s what I teach my girls. It’s what my Mum taught me. That’s Mother Love.
I’ll show you Daughter Love too. The proudest moment of my life:
seeing my Mum get her MBE.
Awww what a lovely post! Seems like a fabulous mum you’ve got there
What a lovely and heartfelt post. You have a wonderful mum and you are a wonderful daughter. x
Beautiful post. Your Mum knows my reaction to her choice of eyewear in the top photo -she shared that one with us in Horn of Africa. Her house was full of photos of you all, full of mother love! Hope you’re all well, rx
A beautiful and touching post. The love is there in what you don’t say.
Oh my gosh -what a fabulous post – shines pride. Love it.
I think I need that book
What a great post! It’s too easy to take mum’s for granted, something we notice now we are mum’s ourselves, but you’ve captured some truly treasured moments π
Perfectly expressed, with real feeling. The best post I’ve read in a long time.
Beautiful photos – and your Mum got an MBE – that’s amazing!! Beautiful post xx
Fabulous post and lovely pics. Mother (and daughter!) love down to a tee! Emma
Stunning photos and real mother love there.
