This week’s theme at The Gallery is Show Me The Funny. It’s a jolly good thing we had two weeks to agonise over which pictures to submit, because I had a hard time. There are so many moments in any day with the Pocket Dictator and Dimples that I find amusing. But I’m their Mamma, so it’s to be expected. I’m also a little sleep-and-sanity-deprived of late, so that makes it more likely that I would find things amusing when others don’t. I chose just a sample below:
We have a similar picture of The Girls wearing their sunglasses during the summer. I had it put onto canvas and it’s on the wall in the Breakfast Room (that’s what they called it in the details when we came to look at the house, and it’s stuck, just in case you think that DG Manor is actually a Manor.) Everyone comments on it when they visit, and it makes me smile every morning, regardless of what time I was made to get up. This is the winter version!
When on holiday this summer, PD snuck up on me and cuddled my neck. (How lucky am I?) You can see it made me laugh.
Whilst we still had The Girl after Dimples’ birth, I took PD out for some day trips, to spend time together before she started Teddy School (her new nursery, so named by PD because it’s logo features a teddy.) I hadn’t spent time alone with her for months due to SPD incapacitation. We went to The London Aquarium on the train, then to Daddy’s office, where we picnicked in Lincoln’s Inn. Here PD kicks back on the journey in.
Then there was the time when we travelled to Coventry for the wedding of a friend. PD climbed into Dimples’ travel cot and the two of them led watching CBeebies whilst we got ready. It was sweet and funny.
Two days after The Gallery title was issued, I got to be a grown-up for a few hours. I left the girls in Granny’s capable hands and went to an Usbourne book party with friends. We’re all mums so I think the grown-up time, and uninterrupted glass of wine went to our heads. On the way home we passed this shop and Mrs O exclaimed
“Air Ambulance Furniture? What Furniture can you get in an Air Ambulance?”
Naturally we all found this utterly hilarious, and had a bizarre giggly conversation about whether you’d get a dining table in a helicopter, and if you’d have to tell injured people you couldn’t take them because you didn’t want to damage the Louis Quatorze chairs. It’s the kind of conversation that you can only have when moments of mummy freedom go to your head. I don’t imagine it appears funny to the ‘Outsider’ but I laughed so hard for so long my ribs hurt the next day. And I went back to get a picture of the shop on my mobile telephonic device so that I could show you the Funny.

Thanks for all the nice comments and so glad I can make you smile, if not my two *adorable* children.

Air Ambulance Furniture… I just laughed all over again at that one π
Penny and Emma: sunglasses and kids = perfect picture. Sadly they are never that keen on wearing them when they actually need to.
