On dogs and computers

Nugget is currently curled up on my lap, asleep. She has had me in fits for most of the day, which is good as the rain outside is quite depressing. Periodically she jumps up on the desk and has a sniff round, then props herself up at the window where she can keep an eye on the local felines.

Of course if she spies one, she goes bonkers, and start running round the desk trying to get at it. This means that the keyboard gets trampled all over, thus losing documents I have been working on, and inadvertently bringing up pages of porn on the internet. She’s quite skilled. But at least it prevented me from going mad with the boredom of DH’s filing. Part of a trade off that lets me work from home. I am at the bottom of it now, but was beginning to lose the will to live. I had to spend a good hour or so wasting time online looking up ‘website of the day’ pages and chatting with others on Mumsnet (the infamous critic of Gina Ford) about the bloody NHS and their seeming inability to make anything simple.

Speaking of simple, wondering what the hell to cook friends who are coming for lunch this weekend. Between them they eat neither fish, vegetables of practically any variety and raisins. Have been looking on the Good Food website for inspiration and found a great recipe: wonder if I should just make an extra large dessert and be done with it. A couple of glasses of wine and they’ll never notice, right?
