project 366 week 44.

week 44

Sunday: The Girls and I leave Daddy working in the Man Cave and head to Hyde Park to catch up with old school friends I haven’t seen since my wedding. Our four girls had a ball. I wish we’d had longer to catch up. Historic moment when- for the first time in the [...]

366 Week 43

week 43

So, even my dodgy maths makes it less than 10 weeks until the end of the year. I will have managed to take- and post regular updates as evidence- a picture every single day. And I thought I had no willpower.

Sunday: we woke in North Holland to a lot of fog. [...]

366 Week 42

Sunday: LBG awoke after a bad night with spots that DH and I felt needed attention. After an hour in A&E Margate, she was diagnosed with shingles. We went to Burger King after for lunch as we all needed a treat. Then we went to the Beach to scout the rock pools before the journey back to Bromley.
Monday: another bad night with LBG, understandably. We were thwarted in our attempts to get her into school as they required a GP letter so on Monday we all went pottery painting and then onto Granny's house where The Girls did lots of reading and entertained Uncle Adam.
Tuesday: Day two of failure on the GPs part to provide our letter so once again LBG was in school uniform and had nowhere to go. She came with us whilst DH and I scouted out a secondary school and we all enjoyed a family lunch at Cafe Rouge in Seevenoaks afterwards.
Wednesday: the day finally arrived when LBG got back into school and we were both so very happy. To top off the day the Twins came for tea, and The Girls worked on doing Hello Kitty jigsaws together.
Thursday: with both Girls back in school, I finally caught up on postponed jobs and coffee dates. Dimples tried to disguise herself at the bottom of the laundry basket.
Friday: More school. The Wonder Hound was spirited off to kennels whilst DH and I started getting things ready for our Half-Term holiday in Holland. THis involved going up into the loft-somewhere I never venture, but The Girls were determined to have a poke around.
Saturday: after very little sleep we had an early start as we headed towards the Eurotunnel, which gave us a chance to watch the sun rise whilst trying to tune out the children's new CDs. It was about 6 hours door-to-door, including the Tunnel crossing, so we were at our new house by mid-afternoon, allowing plenty of time to play on the slide, meet the animals and spot birds from the open-plan living-space windows.

366 Week 41

Sunday: we went swimming with The Girls in Deal, where Dimples terrified us by repeatedly throwing herself headfirst down the many water-slides, but we all had a great time. PIcnic tea in the car on the way back to Bromley saw LBG do the Hula-Hoops-on-the-fingers thing and some maths as an added bonus!
Monday: with DH at home, Dimples and I made the most of the warm autumn day and went to the park. She practised scooting and threw herself down the slide, which is getting to be a bit of a habit. We scored the most amazing wooden doll's house, complete with incumbent family and furniture for a bargain £18.
Tuesday: after school we headed over to Granny's house as we haven't been in so long. Uncle Adam and Granny demonstrated the fine art of conker playing to The Girls, using conkers that Dimples and I found the day before. Granny won.
Wednesday: with both children in school, I headed to meet a friend for coffee and managed to chat for so long it was lunch time before I left. After school we had a relaxing time at home, playing with the doll's house, before I left Dad to be 'The Boss at Bedtime' whilst I went for drinks to catch up with an NCT mum that I haven't seen for a long time.
Thursday: with no time to be tired, I was on a train to London to the Pampers Unicef #1photo1vaccine event where I had a chance to catch up with the fabulous Cafe Bebe. Dashing home in the rain I was just in time to pick up THREE girls from school for a playdate. There was Hama fun, biscuit decorating and cake baking, all of which exhausted my children and they were asleep before 7, leaving me to enjoy my Charlie Bingham's Fish Pie and catch up on Downton.
Friday: as soon as the school run was done I headed back to bed, then had an unexpected chat on Skype with my brother and niece, who had just woken up (they live in America) NO sign of the new baby though: guess he was partying. Then Daddy was the boss again as I returned to Wednesday's venue, this time with dozens of mums from school for a meet-up.
Saturday: a much-needed lie-in and we headed to the Beach House via swimming pool and lunch on the beach in Deal where they are fortifying the flood defences: lots of diggers to see though it did not make for a quiet lunch. Then we went in search of the perfect pumpkin at the pumpkin patch before heading home to log fires and lots of snuggling. A bad night for LBG, who was very unsettled, which all made sense the next morning.

366 Week 40

My beloved DH on his beloved beach, enjoying the last of the sun. He is my knight in shining armour and did an incredible job last weekend being a single parent whilst I was at the MADs and then Shine 2012.

Sunday: LBG practises her ball-skills with Daddy in the garden whilst I watch. The Shine walk was exhausting and I had so little energy, so The Girls kept me entertained all day in the garden and later at the swimming pool.Monday: with LBG at school, Dimples gets one-on-one time. We achieved major victory against [...]

366 Week 39

Sunday: the weather isn't that spectacular and Daddy has to work so whilst LBG is at a friend's birthday party, Dimples and I build a castle from our Create a Box package.
Monday: after school, The Girls work on our Horn-of-Plenty project, which LBG takes into school for show and tell on Thursday.
Tuesday: LBG has a school trip postponed due to the weather. Ironically the sun shines on the school run and Dimples needs her shades.
Wednesday: Uncle Adam is drafted to babysit whilst DH and I celebrate a friends' engagement, but not until The Girls have a little one-on-one with our new lacrosse set. Dimples has been desperate to play crossing ever since we saw it last week at a school Open Day.
Thursday: both girls have Harvest Festival 'Productions' at different times. Dimples' stops performing the moment she sees me. When we come to the school later for LBG's assembly, Dimples spies us from the playground and falls to pieces once more. LBG was great.
Friday: with both Girls at school, I have a chance to get ready for the MAD awards 2012. No bad thing because the Big Chief needs me in London in the middle of the afternoon. I finally crawl into the cab home at 2am after a very long, very funny, very rewarding, very glam, day during which I met so many people I feel I have known my whole life for the first time. Bring on 2013.
Saturday: after making chocolate chip pancakes, DH takes The Girls swimming to allow me to have a nap and get ready for Shine 2012. I set off at 5pm to Battersea Power Station, from where I walk around London for 13.1 miles in aid of Cancer Research UK with my face painted like a pink Spiderman. DH stays at home with our children but my Mum and Brother- in London for a party- put in an unexpected appearance along my route. This time I get to bed by 1.30am.

366 Week 38

Sunday: both girls were so very excited to meet baby J, a friend's three-week-old daughter. They both sat so beautifully and held her carefully with utter delight on their faces, and were utterly devastated to leave her when we had to head off to a birthday party. But they had a super time there too, playing Hook-a-Duck, eating scones and Dimples finally learned to scoot.
Monday: Dimples and I had some project time whilst big sister was in school, then she saw the polystyrene box left from our Forman and Field delivery (thanks to Utterly Scrummy) and before you know it there were little white beads all over the house as she created her winter wonderland.
Tuesday: more autumn-related activities with Dimples after an exciting trip to the supermarket. The fact that she was exhausted made it no easier for me to leave to go to Beaufort House, sadly. Despite Daddy being in charge, both Girls burst into tears and clung to my legs begging me not to leave. I really enjoyed the cocktails when I got there!
Wednesday: dropping both girls at school didn't go swimmingly, not least because I was a tad sleep-deprived. And I went out again, this time leaving The Girls with Granny M, to a craft event in Camden.
Thursday: LBG didn't cry at all at drop-off, a miracle in our house, and I had no-one to tell! I went for a walk with Lady S with whom I am doing the Shine walk next Saturday. Whilst we had lunch after, we made plans to get to Battersea. Then I scooped up my school-girls and took them dress-shopping before meeting The Godlings for tea in Bromley. It was a non-stop kind-of day.
Friday: despite high levels of exhaustion, I still felt the need to 'do' the local charity shops and came home with a few (dozen) bargains which will make future projects. I collected LBg and Dimples from Ballet and we stayed up waiting for Daddy, who unfortunately had to work late, whilst we talked excitedly about Baby Leo- the latest member of our family.
Saturday: DH took us all out for lunch at a lovely pub in Seveoaks after we visited Walthamstow Hall Open Day. There wasn't much time after that for LBg to get changed for a birthday party at a local soft-play centre which ended badly for us when LBG suffered severe bruising after an 'incident' and actually fainted whilst crying. My week finally caught up with me when I fell asleep on the end of her bed whilst waiting for my babies to go to sleep.
