Things to do in Suffolk with small children

things to do in Suffolk with children

For the last three years we have spent Easter week at Potash Barns in Suffolk. It’s the perfect retreat from our busy city life, run by a lovely couple who retreated from busy City Life with their three children and now run the smallholding and self-catering cottages instead. The cottages are lovely: beautifully decorated, well-laid [...]

Pipecleaner doll in a tin travel toy

We do quite a bit of travelling now that we have discovered Home Exchanges. Naturally this requires the packing of some toys, and toys can take up a fair amount of valuable packing space, so of course I have a board on Pinterest specifically for travel toy ideas.

One that caught my eye was this [...]

Things to do in Prague with children

things to do in prague with children

We spent Christmas in Prague this year and we’ve had a fabulous time. There was such a lovely festive atmosphere throughout the city, with Christmas markets, trees and decorations in every square, that it would have been enough just to wander aimlessly through the same squares every day. If you fancy doing a little more, [...]

366 Week 43

week 43

So, even my dodgy maths makes it less than 10 weeks until the end of the year. I will have managed to take- and post regular updates as evidence- a picture every single day. And I thought I had no willpower.

Sunday: we woke in North Holland to a lot of fog. [...]

366: getting back up to date

Sunday: we hit the road on our trip across Arizona, driving up from the flat desert to the mountains.
Monday: waking up in the White Mountains. The Girls mess around in the back of our truck after we stopped at Darbi's Diner for breakfast.
Tuesday: we drive into the heart of the green at Greer, and lunch at Molly Butler's Lodge. As we left we saw the hummingbirds coming back and forth to the feeder. They had a very high pitched noise as they flitted too and fro.
Wednesday: we got caught in a monsoon at the lake. One minute bright skies and sisters pushing each other happily, the next lashing rain and hail the size of marbles. We took shelter under the Ramada until it eased off a bit.
Thursday: moving on. Driving up to the Petrified Forest and Painted Desert. The weather got much warmer. Dimples enjoys her double-decker Oreo.

Travelling with Kids: how to keep children occupied on long journeys

travelling with kids: things to keep them busy

I recently travelled with two pre-schoolers to Arizona: that’s a seven hour flight followed by a five hour flight. Twelve hours in a limited space where sound carries really well. But we survived (I’m drafting this before our return trip so may yet need to edit!) and this is what I packed to keep the [...]
