Poppy Remembrance Day Craft and Linky

You know how, if you stare at something for long enough, an idea comes to you? My very easy Pumpkin garland has been hanging in the kitchen for the past three weeks so I get to look at it repeatedly throughout the day. Then suddenly, it came to me: a poppy craft for Remembrance Day that is so very simple to make.

It goes like this. Try to keep up won’t you? You take a length of red crepe banner and concertina it for what feels like ever. Then cut out a poppy shape, remembering not to cut the ends off, or you’ll end up with poppy confetti. Finally curl up in front of Grand Designs whilst drawing a black dot in the centre of each individual poppy. You could use black stickers. And that’s it.

I have long been a supporter of Remembrance Day Poppies. In fact I don’t ever remember not knowing the significance of them. I guess that comes from being an army brat. But it’s important to remember not just those who lie buried in Flanders’ Field, but those who are returning home every day, physically and mentally scarred. It’s important that our children appreciate their sacrifices too. Poppies are such a wonderful tool to help do that. If you have a craft that encourages remembrance and appreciation, please link below and do grab the badge.
