Its been a busy few weeks, with one thing or another, culminating in our decision not to move. We had yet another offer, then a couple of days later, the buyers reduced their offer. At which point we had a long walk and a good talk and came to the conclusion that the universe is trying to tell us something. So we are staying put, and the relief is palpable. The stress of dealing with agents and buyers, keeping the house tidy all the time and endlessly hoping and planning and putting things on hold until we know whether we are moving has stopped. And its wonderful. We can concentrate on just being together, walking the dog, spending time with friends and weekends at the Money Pit.
And with a little less pressure in the money department, we can even plan to do things to the house. As I type, there is a man banging and chopping in the garden…finally a proper five foot screen (aka fence) is going up to prevent us having to look at our pikey neighbours’ ‘pool’. In fact it’ll stop any contact at all. I’m delighted. And it’s all going on whilst she’s at work, so she’ll have a shock when she comes home, rather like we did when she hacked up our lilac tree. It also means that the dog can no longer jump up and hold on to the top of the picket fence with her teeth, in the vain hope that she will be able to corner next door’s cat. The icing on the cake would be the news that they have sold their house and are moving to deep dark Wales to be replaced by much more considerate neighbours…it’s almost worth not moving!
The sun is shining, the heating and hot water are finally working (together and at the same time, no less) I seem to be over the worst of the cold that has had me laid up in bed for the last few days, and tomorrow I am off to indulge in some retail therapy with a loved-up friend. All is right with the world.

Buy something for me. I know how you feel. I felt so relieved when we decided not to move too. Our marriage nearly came to an end during that whole trying-to-sell ordeal.
love retail therapy……buy something pretty to celebrate!
I’ve memed you.
